This nail polish color has been making me smile all day. It is called Thinking of Blue, by Sally Hanson Complete Salon Manicure. It is this deep indigo blue, almost midnight blue. I know you can't really see it too well in this picture, but it's fantastic!!

Also, these rings makes me happy everyday I wear them. Which is why I wear them everyday. Ha. :)

Lovin A Marine...The Story of How We Met

I met Otto, my Marine, when he was stationed in Japan. He is absolutely aMaZiNg!! It started out with us emailing back and forth about once a day. The emails were long. I looked forward to checking my email everyday so much. Then, we started chatting online occasionally. From there we started talking on Skype any time we could for hours; on his lunch break, after he got off duty, most of the time this would be late at night for me...with him being half way around the world.
We talked about anything and everything. The things we discovered we had in common were unbelievable, same favorite ice cream-mint chocolate chip (yum!), same favorite cereal-frosted mini wheats. It's crazy enough that we even drive the same kind of car, VW Jetta...just wait, it gets crazier, we drove the same kind of car before that too, GMC Sonoma.
Things just kept getting better and better. What I couldn't believe is that even though we met while he was half way around the world, I live in the same small town as his three sisters & Mom! How crazy is that?
This continued for three months. The rest of his time in Japan, after which he was to come home and be released from the Marines, after five years of service. Talk about perfect timing!!
The day he came home was so exciting. He had told his family that he wouldn't be able to come home until mid June. So they weren't expecting him for another two weeks. I went to the airport to pick him up. I was so excited & nervous waiting there in the international terminal for him. It seemed like it took years for his plane to arrive. Then he had to go thru customs and find his bags. Ugh.
Finally, I saw him for the first time in person. Wow. There were no words to describe the feelings then, & now months later still...no words to describe those first minutes.
We couldn't believe that we were finally together. On the whole drive home we just kept holding hands and poking each other, being able to actually touch each other was so new.
Other then that, everything was so natural. We fit together just like we had while he was in Japan; talking non-stop and laughing all the way home.
That was just the beginning of the most memorable evening.
I was still the only one who knew he was actually home.
We drove to his Mom's house to surprise her. He knocked on the door...and when she opened the door I thought she was going to faint. She immediately burst into tears and couldn't believe it was him. She was so excited to see him, it has been a year since the last time he had been home. It was the most awesome thing to witness their reunion.
Then, I got to meet her. Yes...I was getting to meet him for the first time in person, and his whole family in one day. Besides that, we were surprising them with his early arrival. It was CrAzY.
We had planned to tape the whole thing for posterity...but when it came down to the actual moment, we were just too excited to stop and grab the video camera. I'm sad about that now, but in the moment it was the right move.
After his Mom calmed down enough to breathe, and she had stopped 'oohhing' and 'aahhing' over me (and my bambi-like eyes, she loves my eyes), the three of us went to surprise one of Otto's older sisters, Monica.
When she answered her door, she also flipped out & couldn't believe that he was standing there on her front porch. After a hysterical conversation, we were all off to surprise their oldest sister, Mary Ann, at work.
While Otto & I hid behind a column (it felt so good to have his arms around me), his Mom, Claire & sister, Monica, went up to the store & asked Mary Ann (MA) to come outside, there had been a family issue.
Mary Ann came outside, fairly worried. Then, she saw Otto and freaked out. Screaming and crying at the same time. She jumped into Otto's arms. I must say, I think her reaction to Otto's homecoming was my favorite.
Then, she greeted me. Telling me how much she had looked forward to meeting me and how she wasn't usually this crazy. I really do love her!! Unfortunately, after that she had to go back to work.
So, our merry little gang decided it was time to take Otto 'home.' To Mark's house where he would be living. Mark is one of Otto's best friends, basically a member of the Schmid family, and now Otto's landlord.
So, we went to see where Otto would be staying and I was introduced to Mark.
For those of you who have been keeping track, Mark is the 4th 'new' person I just met in about a two hour time period (not including Otto). Phew. Believe it or not...there are more to come.
It took until the next day for us to get in contact with Pam, Otto's little sister, & her son Nathan, Otto's nephew. They both came to see him & were so excited that he was home.
That is a 24 hours I will never forget. So full of craziness and happiness. I met some of the most wonderful people that day. Otto & his family are fantastic. I am so thankful to have each of them in my life.
While Otto is no longer officially an active duty Marine, having served his full 5 year service, I keep telling him he will always be a Marine in my heart. We met while he was a Marine, and I am so proud of his dedication to himself, his family, and our country.

This song is wonderful. She makes me wish I could play guitar. Her Marine is a lucky man, I hope he knows that.

Some songs just speak to the heart & soul. They touch memories that are kept in places no one else knows about. It is so much more then just a song, notes floating thru the air, or poetry set to music. The song is what the 'listener' feels, remembers, wants, etc in that moment.

One of My Least Favorite Subjects: Working Out Sigh

Work It!

I have been trying to do my best to lose some weight, while sitting on my butt. If it was possible for me, it would have happened by now, I am pretty sure. So, I have resolved myself to one of my least favorite activities, working out.

I, like what I am assuming is a large portion of American women, desire to have a flat stomach, toned arms & legs, and a nice firm butt. I am spending a week in Florida in January, and will be wearing (the dreaded) two piece on the beach while I am there. So, there is no time like the present to get started on my body!!

I went out and bought a nice pair of work out pants a couple weeks ago, resolving to start my work out plan then. I guess I was hoping they would go running in the morning without me, while I slept lazily in bed?!

There are many more reasons I am determined to start working out, other then to kick my body back into bikini ready shape. I want to be healthy. Working out helps a woman stay young & vibrant. I want to stay as young as possible, for as long as possible (another reason for staying out of the sun). Also, I want to be in shape for snowboarding season, yay!

I have tried Hip Hop Abs. It was so funny, I laughed the whole time. Which I guess after thinking about it, could be really good for the abs.

I have been trying to eat better; drinking a lot of water (not drinking pop), eating more veggies (instead of fried chips and such), taking vitamins, and eating smaller portions of junk food when I do eat it.

Megan Fox...I Like Her Style

I am a fan of Megan Fox's style. She can pull off a whole range of style from really girly, classic hollywood, & sexy lingerie, to little boy t-shits, glasses, and hats. Not every girl can pull of such a wide range of clothing. I know I can't. I really wish I could. Also, she is not afraid to be herself. She has tattoos that speak to her personally, and does not apologize for them.

I love her in this dress. It is very girly, and she makes it look so natural. I had this set as the background on my cell phone for the longest time looking for a dress in the same style.

She can pull off glasses really well too (my best friend is the same way, she is gorgeous with and without glasses).

I got really excited when I saw this outfit. I wear a similar one a lot. It is really comfy and sexy/stylish at the same time! Also, LOVE the RayBans. My Dad is a pilot and has worn them for years, two years ago I got my own. :)

Little boy's t-shirt!! She looks amazing in a comfy shirt and jeans. My favorite part of this outfit tho are/is the vest/suspender-ish part. I am unsure exactly which it is, but I am 'in-lust' with it. I wish I could find one for myself. :(

Simple yet looking great!! Yet, again with the suspender/vest-ish thing.

ThIs might be my favorite outfit of her's so far. She is looking great & comfy (one of my prerequisites for any outfit). It also highlights her fantastic body without showing off anything unnecessary (ample cleavage, midriff, buttocks, etc).

I am jealous that she has Marilyn Monroe on tattooed on her. I completely understand why she choose her. I feel that if I were to go get this tattoo now, people would feel that I was copying Megan Fox...but I wouldn't be. Arg. Either way, still envious.

Way to go Shakespeare!

Kate Spade "What's In Your Bag?"

A popular trend on a couple websites right now is, "What's in your bag?" So, I decided to 'bite the bullet' and try it out.  

Flickr has a whole group dedicated to the subject. I browsed the group before adding my own submission.

There are so many different things that people carry in their bags!

The most common item I noticed was an mp3 player, more specifically an iPod. Many people are also carrying around cell phones, cameras, and computers. 

Some of the more unique items some people are carrying in their bags range from toothbrushes to kitchen knives (yes, someone actually posted a picture that states they carry a butcher knife around in their bag).  

Many people carry around hand sanitizer and lotion, two items that are currently NOT in my bag, but will soon be. I am they only one who I saw that carries around an ipass? Interesting. I do enjoy being different.

Also, I didn't notice anyone also, so far, that has a separate organizer for their receipts? Guess I am special there too.

 I also just noticed that I have a fairly well done color scheme going in my bag, surprisingly not done on purpose.

Secret Keeper

When I was in high school I was the ‘Secret Keeper’ among my friends. My friends would talk to me about everything, knowing that I wouldn’t say anything to anyone. I was raised by a therapist; she instilled the importance of confidentiality in me.

It didn’t always turn out well for me. I would end up knowing things that I wish I didn’t. Or inevitably, my friends would end up in a fight, and it would be said that I had known about the issue all along. It was never ‘my place’ to share other people’s secrets. Which is what I kept saying each time this happened.

I did end up in a couple feuds with friends over my choice to not blab other people’s secrets, even when they did involve other people. I even came very close to losing a close friend, due to my choices. There was pain & anguish over keeping quiet sometimes, but I did (and still do) ‘stick to my guns’ when it comes keeping my mouth shut about other people’s secrets.

High school was really hard at times, just because of how vicious some of the girls could be. Some rumors had potential to ruin a reputation permanently, even if they were false.

Gossip is a huge potential moneymaker. Magazines and websites such as TMZ and the National Enquirer profit of off gossip and our curiosity about other people’s lives. I know that I read the ‘gossip magazines’ when I am in line at the grocery store or Wal-Mart, and I even follow the random story or two on the internet. They pull us in. But, that doesn’t mean that they are morally or ethically correct.

I know, that even as a journalist, I am going to protect my sources, and follow my gut when it comes to what to publish and what not to. There are times when ‘crossing the line’ is for the good of the public or your readers. There are also times when the reasons for such actions are just not justified. No matter how ‘good’ the story may be or how much a select few people may benefit from the story being released.

Gossip usually hurts someone and is not worth repeating. Take the kindergarten approach next time you hear a piece of ‘tasty’ gossip: If you wouldn’t want that said about you, don’t say it at all.

So my latest fall obsession is these beautiful baggy berets from Pixiebell's Etsy Shop. They are handmade and come in multiple different styles, patterns, and fabulous color choices. Besides that, some of them are modeled on this gorgeous model! Isn't she stunning?

Well, I must admit, Etsy is an obsession of mine in general. It is a fantastic community of artists who create amazing things and then sell them in their stories that make up the community. If you have never heard of Etsy before, be sure to go check it out!!!

Someday, I will get the tattoo I have been thinking about. I do have to wait until after graduation, unfortunately, due to an agreement with my parents that I made my freshman year of high school. That feels like it was soo long ago!!

I enjoy the lil pink bows featured in picture from fuck yeah tattoos (please pardon the language). I love that site. I find it interesting what other people choose to permanently put on their bodies. I know that what I finally end up with be full of meaning and extremely carefully chosen, along with placement, & the artist who does it (I have had the same idea & artwork in mind for over a year now, so that part is basically done).

My Future Claw Foot Bathtub

I dream of soaking in a large claw foot bathtub. It seems so idyllic.

In my mind the tub is surrounded by candles. Soft music is floating through the air. The water is the perfect temperature to relax stressed & tired muscles and is scented of coconut and vanilla (which also helps moisturize the skin).

After a nice long soak...drying off in a big luxurious egyptian cotton towel and moisturizing with a silky moisturizer sounds like dream.

The tub of my dreams is big & roomy. I could easily fit two, perfect for a romantic evening.

The tub has a rain shower head suspended over the center for fantastic showers.

There is a stone floor that is heated, so when a relaxing shower or bath comes to a conclusion, there is no cold floor to step onto. Just a soothing slightly warm stone floor to step onto.

That sounds so relaxing after a day of work, school, chasing the kids around the house, shopping, rocking life, studying, coffee with friends, carpool, errands, cleaning the house, or whatever life may bring.

Hello MadHatters!!

For those who don't know much about me...I am addicted to chocolate, caffeine & constantly trying to quit, [heart] the color purple (kind of obvious?), love puppies (especially my miniature wire-hair Moose), & always have my macbook attached to my hip.

It has almost been a year since I got my MacBook Pro for my birthday/Christmas, November/December (best year for presents...ever!!). By this time I would be having major issues with any of the laptops I have had in the past-viruses, malware, physical issues, etc. I would have had to take it to a tech to get fixed at least once by now. By this time in the lifecycle of any computers I have had in the past, I would be talking about getting a new one & shopping around for a 'good deal.' Always talking about getting a Mac.

I haven't had one problem with my Mac. In fact, I am more in love with it then the day I got it! I wouldn't dream of getting another computer. Instead...I am looking at ways to personalize it. :]

There are tons of ways to personalize your mac (or whatever kind of computer you have...if you have not yet given into Apple bliss, which, you really, really should)!!

A Little Skin Money Saver I Use...

I found out this GREAT little secret from Gala Darling. Her blog is fantastic. Use baby wipes, instead of those expensive make-up removing wipes or pads to remove your makeup at night. They do a wonderful job of removing your makeup & feel great.

Just look for baby wipes containing vitamin E and aloe. This way they will remove your makeup & help keep your skin moisturized. A box of 72 baby wipes costs around $2.50 at big box stores, while a box of 28 Aveeno Daily Cleansing Pads costs $6.47 at the same big box store. Thats almost a $4.00 savings.

Amazing Scent: Juicy Couture

I have finally found a scent that I LOVE. The ‘Original Scent’ from Juicy Couture is amazing! I wear it all the time. The first time I smelled it I was really impressed. I am not actually I huge fan of Juicy Couture. I go into the store to browse whenever I see one, I am more attracted to the decor then most of the clothes. They decorated with a pale pink suit of armor! Hello, can I buy that?!

I am very opposed to the velour track suits, the only thing I find attractive about those is the comfort. I like some of the purses.

When I was in the store this last time, I found myself attracted to some of their more ‘wearable’ everyday clothes. The brand also has some really interesting sweaters, coats, and vests. I was considering buying a bracelet from Juicy until I smelled this glorious scent.

When I find a scent I like, I spray one of those like perfume cards and stick it in the bottom of my purse so that my whole bag smells of the fragrance every time I open it. Its a great way to find out if you really like the scent & to find out if the scent really lasts or not...if a scent lasts long on paper, it will usually last longer on your skin. When I was laying in bed later that night & I could still smell the scent & I was swooning, I knew this was the perfect scent. Long lasting & I loved it.

The next day (the last day of my vacation), I was happy to find the perfume in a great set lotion, shower gel, & full size perfume at the outlet store on sale.

When I got home I read some reviews of the perfume, I was disappointed that Juicy Couture describes the scent as, “something Barbie might wear.” I totally disagree. I am NOT anything like Barbie & I wear it all the time. I agree with this comment that Tania left on http://boisdejasmin.typepad.com

‘Hey, Barbie's a pretty sophisticated girl: she wears couture, goes from work to cocktails in her convertible sportscar, owns a mansion, never got married to the boyfriend she outshines, and is looking pretty good for being almost 50.’

My Bucket List

I just got back from spending a week in Naples, Florida (where I went without wifi for the whole week, torture). I was visiting my Grandpa who has just moved into a retirement center. Luckily, he is loving the change, he is a social butterfly & is having a great time playing cards with all his new friends, & telling everyone his stories. It makes my heart happy to see him adjusting to the move so well. It has been hard for our whole family since losing my Grandma so unexpectedly just a little over 5 months ago, especially on my Grandpa. It is a great relief to see him smile again.

Staying in the retirement center really made me think about life. All of these people had such great stories to tell. I met the Captain of The Love Boat. He danced with Ginger Rogers who danced with Fred Astaire!! That would be my ‘three degrees’ of meeting Fred Astaire.

Now, I have never been a fan of New Years Resolutions. I don’t like to make promises to myself or others that I am more then likely to break. Having said that, seeing all these people reflect on their lives made me think of mine.

At age 23, I am not any more unusual then your average college student who has lived a little more then average life. I traveled a lot when I was young to foreign countries. I have hiked in the mountains in Southern Mexico. I also have a really rare disease, that has held me back from living my life to the fullest lately, but I am determined to get over that.

There are many things I want to do in my life. Fun, exotic things that will make my life full of adventure. I would rather have experiences & adventure then an overflowing bank account.

*Learn to Surf (Hello California!)
*Snowboard (something I have done already, in Colorado, but want to do more of)
*Snorkel (preferably in Australia or somewhere exotic, I have already been snorkeling in Costa Rica & the Florida Keys)
*Wakeboard (more...)
*Learn to Scuba Dive
*Learn to Skateboard (tech...I was taught to in the NPU library...but I am not very good)
*Hike in Colorado & other places
*Travel to New Zealand, Tahiti, South Africa, back pack around Europe, and so many more places....

*Learn to drive a car like a professional (think Transporter 1, 2, or 3)
*Learn Guitar
*Become a GREAT photographer
*Become better at walking in heels (haha) & own a pair of Louboutins (aHHHmazing)

*Watch the fireworks on New Years Eve from a Penthouse Suite.
*Own a professional digital camera
*Play Viola (again)

I am sure the list will get longer & shorter as time goes on. Some of the things I have actually already done, but I would like to do more of.

Side Note:

Usually, at this time of year, in Florida it is around 75 degrees and sunny. This year, it was really cold, we are talking around 50 degrees. I didn’t pack for that kind of weather. People where walking around in winter coats, I saw women in full length furs! This is the coldest it has been in Florida since sometime in the 1800’s. The news was referring to it as ‘The Deep Freeze.’

I spent five minutes at the beach, in jeans and a sweater. People travel from Europe and across the world to vacation at these beaches. All the people on vacation in Naples had to be so disappointed with the weather! It was hard to find things to do inside.

Ode to My Nalgene

I went shopping for a new Nalgene today. I had used for one a long time awhile ago before forgetting it in a classroom. Oops. It went everywhere with me, before I mistakenly left it.

There was a BIG scare about BPA (possible cancer causing chemicals) in the bottles in the past. So, now Nalgene produces bottles that are BPA Free, dishwasher safe, resistant to staining & retaining odors, and very durable. They also come in many different shapes, sizes, & color combinations (bottle & cap combinations).

I chose my favorite color, purple, with a white top, in a wide mouth design, the larger size-coming in at 32 oz. I prefer the wide mouth version, its much easier to fill & I can get ice cubes it without having to smash them. Bliss. Some people don’t like to drink from this because of the way the liquid flows from it. I agree with them, so I got a splash guard, it fits right down inside the mouth of the bottle and controls the flow of the liquid. Most of the guards I have seen before were hard plastic. The one I got is a black pliable rubber, which I prefer.

Besides the bottle itself, what is in the bottle is really important too. I fill mine with water. When I had my previous bottle (before the sad, sad loss), I was drinking huge amounts of water everyday. When I didn’t have a bottle anymore I started drinking pop, juice, and other sugar-y liquids that are not so good for the body. I noticed a big difference in my body.

Everyone (your mother, sister, doctor, neighbor, grandmother, your mother’s twice removed ex-best friend’s aunt who everyone swears went coo-coo when her husband died....ok I’m sure you get my point) tells you that water is so good for you. Well, I am going to jump on that band-wagon.

WATER IS FANTASTIC FOR YOU, dRiNk It!

It made my skin moisturized & extremely clear. I was so much more energized. I lost weight. I just ‘felt’ better in general.

It did all of that for me and helped my body internally in many healthy ways. Besides that, it saved me LOTS of money, because I wasn’t drinking ‘bottled’ water, or pop, or juice anymore. Also, it is very green. Nalgene has partnered with Brita to help cut down on the plastic waste in landfills.

I encourage you to get a Nalgene and commit to drinking more water in this coming New Year. It will make you feel so much better!

The recent trend of the ‘nerdy’ glasses has come a great relief to those of us who actually depend on a real prescription on a daily basis. I came across these great make up tips when perusing the latest issue of Cosmo. The tips are from the book: Cosmo’s Sexiest Beauty Secrets.

*For a bold, notice me eye effect, dampen your brush slightly before dipping it into the shadow. The water will intensify the color for a deeper payoff. [from the chapter on eyes]

Things I Learned Today...

Give in to your cravings (as long as they are healthy and legal). It doesn’t have to be anything outrageous. I have wanted chicken salad for days. I finally made some and it was delicious.

Burn a couple candles. They make a room feel warm and smell wonderful.

Take the plunge, switch from a PC to a Mac. I recently did & it was so easy! I don’t know what all the hype is about ‘the switch.’ My new MacBook Pro is wonderful and so much better then my previous PC.

Wear jewelry that means something to you. This way your memories/values will be visible on you at all times.

Take a moment from your busy schedule to pamper yourself. I went and got my nails done, which I hadn’t done in so long. It’s a little thing, but can make you feel good.

Invest in an automatic vacuum, i.e. a puppy. :) They are so good at picking up the crumbs. Sometimes they try to ‘vacuum’ the food right out of your hand, but they make up for it with how cute they are!

Play games with family this holiday season. It is a good way to interact with family while avoiding those awkward conversations about your love life, school, or work.

Shop for clothes out of season, especially the essentials. They will usually be on sale & you can get amazing deals. For example, right now is a great time to be shopping for swimsuits online. Victoria Secret and many other retailers are having big sales.

Wear a vintage coat this winter. They are so well made & beautiful. I found mine for $30 at a vintage store. It is a beautiful grey wool with a full fur collar, belted waist, full length, & fully lined. You can find them in resale shops or look on ebay.

Out of the closet comes thebeautiful white, lace summer dress that you can always trust to be the perfectgo to essential. It makes you feel like a princess in the summer, right?! Tomake it feel a little more like personalized, add some accessories: chunkybracelets, chandelier earrings, bangles perhaps? In my case, I would addtiffany heart earrings, a chunky turquoise necklace, and a fun, funky bracelet.

You may be looking at that dresssaying it looks just like the last two-hundred times you have worn it. So, adda belt to it, skinny or thick (that is up to you), wrap a ribbon around it acouple times. Find delicate necklaces to wrap around the straps to add dimensionand dangle around your shoulders (or ribbon, or thread). Try things out, take apicture of yourself, look it over, if it doesn’t work try something else. If itworks, well, I am sure you know what to do; GO ROCK THAT LOOK!

Moving on to shoes, oh, one ofmy favorite subjects. I am sure you are going straight for your favoriteworn-everyday-pair. STOP. I know we are talking about comfort; we are alsotalking about fashion. You have to have more than one pair of comfortableshoes, right?! So, try other combinations before you head straight for theworn-out shoes already by the door. Boots are a great choice this season, nomatter what the season. There are also a great variety of sandals out there.Celebrate your feet, but keep comfort in mind! If you can wear heels and walkmiles and still be completely comfortable, I hate you, ok maybe not truly HATEbut still, come on. Keep in mind, the fashion magazines are great for inspiration,but put your own spin on things!

Mmmm, just as good as shoes,bags. As far as I am concerned right now there is only one possible bag to gowith my outfits, the Lucky Brand Abbey Road, in teal. You can choose whateveryou feel goes well with this outfit; messenger, hobo, clutch, etc. I am a bigsupporter of colored accessories. Especially bags. I think they bring a lot ofattitude to an outfit, and it you find one that really expresses your personalstyle, it really says a lot about you as an individual, in purely a cosmeticsense.

This being stated, I love myhair, I love doing it, but it takes FOREVER! So, I adore hats. I have all mylife. When I was little I wore pots on my head, wrapped scarves around my head,put diapers on my head (oh, yes…its true). I have been a lover of all things millinersince a very young age. So, for this outfit I have chosen a charming knit beretto add a pop of color. What is your favorite kind of hat? I am not sure I couldanswer that question myself…..but I am looking forward to your answers!

Last but not least, I alwaysgrab a cardigan or sweatshirt in case of cool weather or insane air-conditioning.This is usually draped over my bag, or in my bag so I don’t have to deal withit all the time. For this I have picked a light, knit purple cardigan that canbe worn over the whole outfit or belted over the dress for a more definedshape. There are so many choices when it comes to outerwear! My mom would tellyou all how obsessed I am with coats and other such things. Capes, caplets,trench coats, military jackets (the fashionable kind please), jean jackets,cropped jackets, etc; I could go on and on.

This outfit seems perfect for anafternoon shopping in SoHo. Followed by an early evening picnic with a charmingyoung man of cheese, sandwiches, wine, raspberries & chocolate; followed bya stroll with a puppy and a little game of fetch. Maybe back to his place for amovie??

The Abbey Road Hand Bag

Oh, it isa beauty! It’s made of Iamb leather, with a cloth interior. Multiple interiorpockets to help organize, including a zippered pocket. There is also anexterior zippered pocket. The strap has many positions that it can be securedin, two different lengths of ‘messenger bag’ (or over the shoulder/across thebody) style & two different lengths for under the arm carrying.. As you cansee there are also handles to carry by hand or on the crook of your arm if youwish (it is also possible to slip this over your shoulder if you have skinnyshoulders), this changes the appearanceof the bag dramatically (the size also). There are a great range of colorchoices for this fabulous bag;: white, black, tan, purple, teal, cranberry,silver (I think, I could be wrong), and a brown & tan with a really coolleather flower on it.

My momand I were out on one of our many shopping trips together when we found thisgreat bag. We both instantly fell in love and couldn’t stop talking about itthe rest of the day. This talking continued on for months. We would pick outoutfits and then think about how perfectly they would go with the Lucky bag.So, eventually we both had to give in and each get our own. My mom got thebrown & tan bag with the leather flower. I chose the teal bag (the onepictured in the montage above). I LOVE IT. I am so excited to use it (I amsaving it for New York…more on that in a little bit)!

BuffaloPlaid is another one of my current fashion choices. When I saw the picturefeatured in the upper left-hand corner of the montage, I knew it was an outfitI was going to do my own personal twist on. I love the long-sleeves rolled upand paired with shorts, the boots, and of course I can’t get enough of thewonderful bag.

As Ihinted towards earlier, I will be going to New York for a couple days. My momand I will be going shopping, to a couple museums, shows, the Statue of Liberty(my mom has never been to it), and many other locations that I cannot wait totell you all about. I am so excited about the pictures to come and adventuresand stories I will have to share with you all.

I haveplanned out so many of my outfits already, I am traveling as light as possiblesince I can only take a carry on and one personal item (yes, I know…ouch!), soI have to plan ahead!

Here is my rendition of the outfit pictured inthe first montage. I will of course be accessorizing with my Lucky Brand AbbeyRoad bag in teal and usual jewelry which consists of my tiffany heart necklace(on a ball chain that can be worn long or short, I wear it all the time), hoopearrings (the earrings change with my mood), my blue cocktail ring, my romannumeral ring (from C), my tanzanite and diamond ring from my grandparents,& the wedding band of my great grandmother and grandmother (worn on mytiffany necklace). The shoes pictured are close to what I will be wearing…Icouldn’t find a picture of the exact ones, BCBG black patent with a gold zipperup the side. And of course big sunnies (sunglasses…we just had some guests fromNew Zealand, they taught me many new phrases).

Lately, Ihave spent lots of time looking at wedding pictures for inspiration and ideasfor a wedding that I will soon be a photographer at. There are so manybeautiful weddings out there! I have gotten many great ideas. I must say thatlooking at all these photos makes me want to plan my own wedding. So, I thoughtI would share some of my preliminary thoughts on the subject with you, since Iam nowhere near the walk down the aisle myself! This is one of those specialevents in my life that I have thought about for years and the plans evolveevery time.

I fell inlove with the vintage style veil, the one that just covers the face. A lot likethe one that Reese Witherspoon wears down the aisle in Sweet Home Alabama (2002). After a little bit of research, Ihave come to find this particular kind of veil is known as a birdcage veil. Tolook as some different birdcage designs, browse through Unveiled Bridal Designs. They have such greatideas!

Theparasol is just idyllic. How romantic?? I just love how they look in thepictures. Have the whole wedding party have them. Decorate with them. I foundpictures from a really cool outdoor wedding where the guests were sittingwatching the service holding many different colored lace parasols. The effectwas beautiful! There are so many different shapes, colors, and textures (lace,ruffled, etc.) of parasols out there, they can be fun on a sunny day to makeany outfit pop. Also, they protect you from the sun to keep your skin lookingyoung and vibrant!

Oh, callalilies. The white and purple calla lilies are called Vermeer Calla Lilies,which are currently the lilies I would like my bouquet to be made out of. I amadoring purple right now, can you tell? I have loved the calla lily for a long time;I was so excited to find it with a purple accent. Mmm, the small pleasures inlife.

How can wetalk about the details of a wedding and wedding photography and not talk aboutshoes? So many wedding photos now feature pictures of just the bride’s shoes.Now, I knew that I would have pictures of my shoes on my special day, noquestion there (my purse will be photographed too), but I did not realize itwas such a wide spread phenomenon. One of the more prevalent trends latelyseems to be colored shoes. This looks so glamorous! Deep purple is the colorthat will adorn my feet. I am dying to know who makes the shoes that the bride iswearing (in the lower right hand corner) in my little photo collage. If youknow who they are by, PLEASE let me know!

Thepicture in the middle is fantastic. Featuring the shoes, gorgeous color, andthe rings, *sigh* glam.

I includedthe clips from, Paparazzi by Lady GaGa because these specific are perfect forthis post! “I’m your biggest fan I’ll follow you until you love me.” When youlisten to this song do you really think of it as a love song, why not? “Promisei'll be kind, but i won't stop until that boy is mine.” See what I am gettingat? No? Oh well. I think it is romantic.

My Prolonged Absence

Hello Dearest TopHat Lovers,

I am so sorry for the prolonged absence. It is not one that has been planned. Many things have happened that have made it very difficult to sit down and write at the current moment. But, please do not give up on me just yet, I will be back soon, I promise.

My Grandma passed away, very unexpectedly yesterday, while I was visiting her in Florida. She was one of the greatest women I have ever known. So, there are many things that will be going on in the next few days & week in her honor. Family will be arriving from all over the country in the coming hours and days & there are services to plan.

I will be back as soon as possible. I miss you all.
